En este artículo revisamos la evaluación y tratamiento psicológico con mujeres maltratadas por su pareja y el impacto psicológico de dicha violencia. Así mismo recogemos los aspectos más relevantes de las investigaciones sobre este tema, ya que el problema de la violencia contra la mujer no puede ser bien comprendido centrándonos exclusivamente en la psicología del individuo. En el tratamiento que nuestro grupo ha llevado a cabo tres son las metas básicas: 1) aumentar la seguridad de la mujer; 2) ayudarle a recuperar el control de su vida; 3) remediar el impacto psicológico del abuso. Los resultados del programa de intervención grupal mostraron que las mujeres que participaron experimentaron una reducción significativa en su sintomatología de estrés postraumático, depresión, ansiedad y síntomas somáticos, aumentando su autoestima, confianza en sí mismas y el control de sus vidas.

This article reviews the psychological assessment and treatment of battered women and describes the psychological effects of partner violence in battered women. We also review the most relevant themes of the research on partner violence, because the problem of violence against women cannot be fully understood by focusing exclusively on individual psychology. In the treatment program which our group has developed there are three basic goals: 1) increasing the abused woman’s safety; 2) helping them to regain some control over their lives; 3) healing the psychological impact of abuse. Results of the group program indicated that battered women who participated in the program reported significant reduction in posttraumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety and somatic symptoms, and increases in self-esteem, self-confidence and control over their lives.

A la hora de analizar el complejo fenómeno de los malos tratos a las mujeres en el seno de sus relaciones de pareja, son dos los aspectos que quisiera poner de relieve, por un lado la invisibilidad y la naturalización de la violencia, y por otro, los mandatos de género para la identidad femenina tradicional. Ambos aspectos afectan plenamente a las mujeres maltratadas siendo además de muy difícil detección para ellas. Así, quedan atrapadas en relaciones abusivas, sufriendo las secuelas y sin tener clara conciencia del daño padecido. El diseño de los Grupos de Psicoeducación para Mujeres Maltratadas resulta una primera intervención psicológica eficaz al desvelar la violencia invisible de sus relaciones y se constituye en una herramienta poderosa de transformación.

On analyzing the complex phenomenon of the violence against women at the centre of their sentimental relationships, there are two aspects which I would like to emphasize, on the one hand the invisibility and the naturalization of the violence, and on the other hand, the gender mandates of the traditional feminine identity. Both aspects fully affect battered women and are furthermore very difficult to detect by them. In this way, they remain trapped in abusive relationships, suffering the consequences and without any awareness of the harm they are enduring. The design of the Psycho-Educational Groups for Battered Women is proving to be an efficient first psychological contribution to revealing invisible violence in relationships and constitues a powerful tool for transformation.

Está claro que no siempre es posible, desde este servicio, intervenir sobre el agresor. No obstante se pueden proporcionar recursos a la víctima para ser consciente del problema y tomar las decisiones oportunas.

Esta revisión describe la implicación de diversas áreas disciplinares de la ciencia de la Psicología en el trabajo de servicios y agencias públicas de inteligencia contraterrorista. A partir de la referencia vertebrada por las tareas de obtención y procesamiento de información que recaen en los recursos humanos de una agencia de inteligencia, el papel de la ciencia psicológica en el esfuerzo contraterrorista se articula en dos ejes nucleares. El primero está representado por las aportaciones de la psicología en la selección, capacitación y seguimiento de agentes dedicados a operaciones especiales de alto riesgo desarrolladas en configuraciones situacionales de estrés sostenido. La segunda, explora los condicionantes y constricciones que la personalidad institucional de las agencias de inteligencia expone ante la labor de procesamiento de información llevada a cabo por recursos humanos de inteligencia.

This review tries to outline the involvement of several areas of the science of Psychology in the framework of the public intelligence agencies counter-terrorist effort. The tasks of gathering and processing information developed by human resources inside an Intelligence agency serves as a cornerstone from which to explore the role of Psychology in intelligence through a couple of main ways. The first would be the contribution of Psychology in the recruitment, training and follow-up of intelligence agents devoted to high risk special operation under the presence of complex stressors. The second would take into account the depending factors and limitations the organizational personality and identity of intelligence agencies pose to the assignment of information treatment and processing carried out by intelligence services human resources.
